Business analysis for a foreign trade single window

Structure the project, formalise the requirements, assess the options and produce a specification that holds up to scrutiny.

Hall crossed by converging circulations, evoking a single point of entry for multiple procedures

Context

A single-window project intended to bring together, at one point of entry, the formalities tied to foreign trade operations, today spread across several parties and several procedures. The project involved many stakeholders, with distinct expectations and distinct regulatory constraints.

The challenge

To bring needs held by different parties towards a coherent functional perimeter, then go to market on a comparable basis — without letting the technology choice determine the need.

What AXENEO did

The work we carried out

  1. 01

    Structuring the project

    • Scoping of the perimeter, the objectives and the stakeholders
    • Facilitation of the requirements-gathering workshops
    • Mapping of the procedures and of the target processes
    • Formalisation of the functional and non-functional requirements
  2. 02

    Assessing the solutions

    • Evaluation grid built on the requirements
    • Review and comparison of the technology options open to the project
    • Analysis of integration impact and of total cost of ownership
  3. 03

    Going to market

    • Drafting of the specification and of the tender file
    • Support for the stakeholders through the process
    • Preparation of the criteria for analysing the responses

Results

What the set-up changed

Results are described qualitatively. We do not publish figures we would not be able to document.

  • A functional perimeter arbitrated and shared between the stakeholders.

  • A requirements repository serving as a common basis for the exchanges.

  • An assessment of the solutions grounded in the needs expressed and in traceable criteria.

  • A specification allowing the market to be consulted on a comparable basis.
